WING RESIDENCE

The Wing Residence reflects Atelier of Architects’ early explorations into tropical modern architecture, where simplicity of form meets sensitivity to context. Located in close proximity to the Prasert Residence in Bangkok, the project sought to create a home that balanced restraint, comfort, and environmental responsiveness . The design adopts a minimal architectural language, stripping away ornamentation to emphasize proportion, light, and spatial flow. Shading devices, overhangs, and natural ventilation strategies were integrated to respond directly to the tropical climate, ensuring durability and comfort in everyday use. Despite its simplicity, the Wing Residence carries a quiet monumentality. The layout embraces both openness and privacy, creating a home that feels grounded in its site while offering calm retreat-like qualities for its inhabitants. Its careful detailing and controlled geometry embody Atelier of Architects’ belief that simplicity can hold depth, and that the quality of living emerges not from excess but from clarity and thoughtfulness. As one of the studio’s formative residential works, the Wing Residence set a foundation for future projects, establishing a language of tropical responsiveness and architectural clarity that continues to inform Atelier of Architects’ design ethos today.
